Restored "Early" Sport Seats - What do you think?

Stipped down to the bare metal - Appropriate replacement of padding, pipping with OE material.

Fully functional, tilt forward bases, head rests, back, forward etc.

Pelicans, what do you think?

Randy,

Early sport seats are very "Heavy"! Like cement blocks.

Est. over 40lbs each.

Ghant - Actually reasonable cost factor, I work in the industry!

Thank you,
Jason

Seats look great Jason, but I'm really impressed with the green paint job behind ! I'd had my old SC painted Viper Green "Diamond", with the silver metallic content rather than bronze, a few years ago. Now trying to rationalize doing the same to my Mocca Brown 930. Your photos may have pushed me over the edge. Is that actually metallic Viper Green ?

Yeah, they sure are heavy and $$$, but are one of the few seats that fits my narrow frame perfectly! When are one of the aftermarket seat companies going to make a lightweight replica seat? Imagine a seat with the same vintage look, but without those heavy tilting bases. Nobody makes one, right?

I'll bet these weigh more than the 80-84 style that you have on ebay.
I have that style in my SC and if I remember they were around 34 pounds.

What are these going in ?

IIRC, around 1974 or so, P AG switched from horsehair construction to foam, and maybe did some other things too to reduce the wt. of the seats. I think this is from Frere's book.

They did a bunch of stuff to cut the wt. of the bumper cars - Al trailing arms, (later) the Al front susp. crossmember etc. Without all that the bumper cars would be eve heavier than they were.
