I was wondering if anyone has installed a sub solution like this one?

I was very surprised that they were able to fit 8" subs in such small depth.
I just really like this solution since it is very stealth and allows you to retain the back seats fully functional.

It looks as though they moved the rear deck farward a tad to accomodate the depth of the woofers. The rear seats are probably not quite in the same location, but close.

For compact subwoofers, check out Planet Audio's NEO series of subwoofers. They are discontinued, but suit the needs of cars like ours quite well. They use a voice coil on the front of the cone, and the use a light-weight but ultra powerful Neodymium motor structure. This effectively cuts the mounting depth down to around 2.5"...... Just think, a sub that fits under the pass side floorboard without knowing its even there!

Ps. USD Audio has fantastic (Although Expensive) product. My wife uses USD Processors in her Championship Mustang stereo car.

I use a similar setup made by a/d/s/ back in the 80's. It has four 6 1/2" long throw subs in a fiberglass enclosure that mounts to the firewall. The rear seatbacks still function and are just slightly more upright than stock. The bass from the setup is strong enough to move the hair on the back of your head!

After measuring the distance between my rear seat backs and the firewall, it doesn't seem to be enough clearance to fit 8” subs without moving the rear setbacks.
david914, did they have to move the rear seat backs? I just looked at mine and I am not sure how difficult that will be

Can anyone suggest some low profile subs?

I'm happy with just listening to the sounds a 911 makes. When I want to listen to music I can take the wife's SUV or better yet stay home. Aren't people trying to do something that the 911 wasn't designed to do nor should be made to do. If you want a vehicle that music sounds good in get something else. If you want something that drives as good as the 911 good luck. For the sound system in my Targa I went with a new raio CD unti, an amp under the drivers seat and replaced all the speakers with individual tweeters and woofers. Sounds fine even with the roof off which it is most of the time.
