South Orange County Group May Run/Event - Ideas?

Ok, I will try again and see what you guys would like to do and what days you have available. The following Saturday mornings are available for me in May.

May 21, 2005
May 28, 2005

I am thinking about a run from Ortega Highway up through Santiago Canyon, stop by Cook's Corner and a couple of other sites and stop off for lunch somewhere in Orange again, very similiar to the Moreno's lunch run we did. Also, for those that want to do Dromo 1, we can go after lunch for a little fun drive around the track. Let me know your thoughts and feedback

May 28th is Memorial Day weekend. The roads might be a bit crowded.

I'm still interested in a day that we all can stop somewhere to have the cars weighed. We could do a guess your weight contest too. Could be funny.

OK, I guess May 28th is out of the question if its a holiday weekend because I am sure many of you are going away. We can try something on a Sunday as well but I don't want to plan anything unless I get significant response for interest. The past 2 months were lousy for turnout.

Dave,

Any ideas on places to get the cars weighed? I would happily put that in as part of a route or a stop.

Chris

Yeah, I'm here. Was chatting with Dave off-line.

Well, the two suggestions that immediately came to mind way back at Moreno's (between mouthfuls of insects and Dos Equis) is there is a recycling center off of the 91/57 interchange (next to Embassy Suites) that has a scale, but don't know how accurate it may be. I know Sammy lives real close, maybe he can swing by and take a look?

I recently tried the landfill off Ortega in SJC during my lunchbreak just for the heck of it. The guy said the scale was not certified BUT was accurate. NOT!

According to him, my car weighed 2460 lbs. with ME in it! No way in hell.

If you guys are seriously interested, I will make some calls and find a certified scale location that won't mind a group inundating them.

Ralph

Hey we could all pitch in a few bucks to make it worth it to the shop with the scale. $5/car would be worth the time to run a dozen car on/off the scale in a matter of 15 minutes.

Ralph I just sent you an email with the revisions we discussed, FYI.

They charge extra if you need certification.

We have now May 14, 2005 or May 21, 2005. May 8th is Mother's Day weekend and May 28th is Memorial Day weekend so whose in and which date, the majority will choose the date.

The 14th or 28th work for me

The 7th or 21st doesn't

I'll be there but I may need some help with my rear suspension to finish on time. The front should be done in a week, maybe sooner.

All I need to do on the rear is pull the springplates and torsion bars out, clean and paint the springplates, put new Neatrix bushings on them, put the new torsion bars in, install the new Bilstein Sport shocks, and then fiddle with the springplate indexing until my ride height is right (just a little below Euro height).

After that it's going to the mechanic for an alignment and corner balance and then it's DONE!

Anyone?

Scott,

I am always happy to help but I probably can't help much as I don't know the first thing about suspension but learning from your other thread and what you showed me the last time we talked. Let me know what your car working schedule is for next week and I can at least offer an extra pair of hands. Anybody else??

Chris

Sorry Chris, I was up in the Santa Cruz area this weekend and my hotel didn't have a "hotspot" available so I was unable to get online all weekend. Big time withdrawals.

Anyway, I can always use some help. Heck, I could use the company.

I'm going to be working on the car Monday. Then I have a trip on Tuesday and Wednesday. After that I've got four days off in a row. So anytime on those days. Come on over.

Take care.
