Bone Head Question

What is the secret to mounting the nuts [not that, you sicko!] for
the emblem on the front trunk lid?
I told you it was a bone headed question!

I think you take a deep drive socket and stuff it with enough plastic, paper, or other till only the nut fits in the socket.

They should be flange speed nuts which will *ride* on the rim of the socket. But, that comes from the 914s and earlier 911 cars I have owned. Maybe the newer badges have threaded studs? Still, a flange nut is going to work better.

The badge [emblem] is non-threaded.

I thinks so....it's just really tough getting them down in the hole and hitting the post. My needle nose pliers won't go down all the way into the hole, they are too wide and stop short of pressing the nuts all the way onto the shafts. Longer needle nose pliers?

Yep, deep socket and try using a screwdriver socket handle rather than a regular socket handle. Better 'feel'.

Leave the needle nose pliers in the toolbox.. They will NOT help you here
