BND Automotive Oil in GRM

I was reading the June issue of Grassroots Motorsports and on page 52, they have a small article on motor oil from a company called BND. Looks like it goes for $8-10/qt, which is on par with what I've seen Redline and Royal Purple go for, I think. I did a search and didn't see anything on BND Automotive.

Anyway, what I thought was particularly interesting was GRM said that wear on rings, bores, and lifters is 35% less than with Mobil 1 and about 15% less wear on bearings and piston skirts.

I believe its a synthetic oil, so it may not be something all 911 folks are going to be game to use, but I was curious if anyone here had any experience with the product or thoughts on the results they claim? I'm not a 993 guy, but I thought they have issues with valve guides, perhaps something like this would be a useful product to try?

Let's see....what appears to be a relatively very small formulator claiming superiority to a billion $$$ oil giant....I'm not surprised.

What proof do they offer?

Well, I've never used the product so I'm certainly not endorsing it. Apparently, the numbers above are extrapolated from oil analysis that's been done on used oil. According to the article, their products are also starting to be used by some drag racing teams. I thought it was particularly interesting that GRM seemed to be promoting the product as they're generally focused on bang-for-the-buck type improvement. When I had my Miata, I found they generally had pretty reliable and economical approach to their suggested mods.

Sounds like a scam to me. Check out any amazing as-seen-on-TV-or-via-gullible-editors lubricants on BITOG.

Here's one thread. Can you spot the company ringer post?

Surprising that GRM would put up with that sort of thing, though.
