Smile Prom Night!!

I let my son's drive the porsche on prom night. #1...you've got to drive a cool car, otherwise what's the use of going. Since he couldn't drive a standard transmission, I've been schooling him the past 2 weeks in order to make that special evening....special. Today, he washed and waxed her (the car), I put the door panels back on (one of the projects) and he was off. 2 years ago, I was fixing the starter as my oldest son went out the door...this year was door panels. Anyway, I must have done something right, here's the picts as he leaves his date's house

Ahh, brings back memories...

I crashed my stepfather's 928 on prom night just about 20 years ago.

So, did he nail her? (edit) I mean, on my daughter's prom night she wanted me to volunteer the 911 for the big event. Since she was on the pill, I didn't really care about the sex. But NO WAY was some high screw-all punk going to drive MY car....

If he can't close the deal with that car, there's no hope for him!!

Great pic & story! Bet you won't be sleeping well tonight until you hear him pull it into the garage (and then you sneak out for a qucik visual inspection!)

Just to put this in perspective... I drove my parents car to my prom night. It was an ok car at time... baby blue '59 Caddy. OK, it was no P-car but at least it got us there! Back then then it was difficult to claim "I ran out of gas" since it was maybe $.24 a gallon.

When I die, if I am reincarnated, perhaps I will be lucky
enough to drive such a nice black Porsche to my next prom!

Nice Car,

Dennis

That is so cool. I only wish I had a Porsche when I was in high school or knew anything about them. I had an old beat up Chevy that I drove everywhere. Almost 7 years later and 3 cars later I have my Porsche and I am a happy camper.

I drove my 911 Targa to the Prom last weekend. Want to hear something?? My car got more looks than an 03 SL500! Even the driver of the SL kept on looking over at my 20+ yr old car.

I was going to take the Jag XK-140, but it wouldn't start.

Oh yea, my date wasn't very impressed when I showed up in my sister's pea greeen VW with the plastic flower thingys all over it. Probably just as well in the end.

(and no,I don't have any pictures)

hehe.... i drove an old school 1990 jeep cherokee to my prom. lets just say that there is more "cargo space" in the jeep that didn't go unused... i did try and rent a 911 though.....but couldn't get my dad to rent it for me....had to be over 25.

Good for your son! In 1 (or 2) years from now, I will be driving the red 911 cabriolet to prom. Just 1 more month until I get my liscence, and then the 911 will be my daily driver, and by prom, I will really know how to drive. Hey, at least the girl and the car will have something in common... both tops are removeable .

Oh boy, I took my porsche to my prom last year. I was offered a free limo with friends, but I turned it down, because I wanted to show up with a kick a** targa, not an elongated expedition.

memory lane..i'll say..20 years ago i drove a brand new '84 pontiac trans am to my prom that my then-millionaire father had bought for me i think because 'i was destined to be going places' with all my credentials. 20 years later, an aviation career washed-up, couple failed business attempts (who's counting), two women who twice took everything i had..i'm left broke, getting by in an rv and wrenching on a 31 year old 911 daily driver because..well, i have to get around..and about three prescriptions to help maintain bigchillcar's sanity and rosy outlook. it's a beautiful world, guys..better luck to you young up and comers out there..get it right the first time and enjoy the ride. 4:40 am..here's a shot of gin to you all. Hell, come to think of it, I'll be celebrating 40 years soon..hell, my oil isn't even warm yet, eh?
