Installed a Fabspeed Muffler on my Porsche (pics)
After spending nearly six months doing research, and asking everyone around here which was the best muffler for my 930... I finally bought one.
Now, nearly everyone at Pelican (the forum, not the company) suggested GHL, and a few spoke about B&B... and someone even makes killer custom mufflers (but he didn't have any for the 930), but I went against the majority and chose the Fabspeed. (It was a few well-spoken PM's from Fabspeed owners that pushed me over the edge.) The research: The B&B was a single out, but the exhaust traveled from one side, made a U-turn, then exited from the OEM side (left): The GHL did the same as the B&B (U-turn path): After more research, I chose dual outlet for better flow. Unfortunately, most of the "dual outlet" were more for cosmetic - not performance. This the the GHL "dual" and you can see it is really one single 3" inlet with two 3" outlets: The Fabspeed is a different approach. They copy the factory 964 turbo approach - the left pipe is a turbo wastegate dump, and the right pipe is a straight shot from the turbo itself (you can roll a tennis ball right through it!): Great flow. Proven design. I liked it... a lot. Unfortunately, a ton of people around here had issues with their Fabspeeds not fitting correctly. Well, I decided to call Fabspeed directly and speak to them and express my concerns. I shot a few e-mails to Joe, and called and spoke to Jay. Both helped ease my concerns - and they promised my muffler would be perfect. I ordered it that night, and it shipped immediately. It arrived a few days later looking SWEET: Long story short, installation was pretty easy. Off with the valance, heat shield, muffler, CAT... then on with the new mounting braket, muffler, tip, then wastegate dump pipe. I cut the valance with an air saw ($19 Harbor Freight) and bought some OEM Grand Prix White spray paint (another $19 or so) and painted it. Looks nice. No snags along the way. Align and tighten. Perfect. The sound is f'ing AMAZING. (No other way to describe it.)A deep, deep growl followed by a thunderous rumble during acceleration. Downshifts are accompanied by a howitzer-like booming that keeps terrorists miles from my neighborhood. During cruise at 3,000 RPM, it is a bit louder - but nothing annoying whatsoever. I wish I could post a sound clip. Oh, I think the turbo spools a bit faster, and it runs even cooler than before considering it isn't choked (yesterday it was nearly 90 outside, and the car never went above 180 during my freeway drive. When off the freeway, It went up to maybe 190). Even if I don't believe Fabspeed's claim of 20-30 hp gain, the sound makes me think I am getting some of it. Looks sweet!

nice
I used a fabspeed as well on my '91 C2 and the fit was nice and easy to install. I am not sure whether it gave me more HP but it sounds good. pic
