911 owners in other parts of the world

Just looked at the pics posted by Deoxford, and saw Jeff964's post from Hong Kong. I was wondering if there are others who live in places other then the UK, Australia, or the usual guys who post here. Let us know about your cars and where you drive them. I was visiting an old college buddy who now live in Hong Kong, I found that typically street and express ways are very narrow and crowded. Where do you guys open it up at? Many must surf this site but not chat much.

Jeff

Well, since you don´t seem to get an overload of replies and I am sort of "ROW" I thought I´d chime in.

Drive a ´85 Carrera color GPW. Stock besides wheels. Reside in a beatyfull beach resort, an old fishing village, in the south of Sweden. Pretty scares traffic and a lot of winding roads in a fantastic scenery. Even in the nearby cities the traffic is rather endurable.

Pretty good Porsche scene here in South Africa too, with an active country-wide Porsche club, good racing opportunities and excellent mountain roads. Not like Switzerland though.

Bob,
It is the old road at the St Gothard, between Airolo and Andermatt. It is smack in the middle of the country, about 40 miles south of Luzern. The old road is cobblestones and is named "Val Tremola". You drive it from Airolo uphill, it's the best way.

Is that the road one uses when the St Gothard tunnel is closed?

If so it's a hoot to drive in a 911.

If you want to see the roads Isabo and I play on check out the Vernasca hillclimb site. We're in the middle of it. 911 Heaven

Mliu,
There are 3 ways to srpss the St Gothard:
1 Tunnel, boring...
2 Main road over the pass, wide and smooth, OK but lots of trafic
3 old cobblestone road, a hoot whether on bike or with a Porsche

Are cobblestones slippery?

I imagine you would have a bumpy ride.

Greetings from Australia. I recommend a search for Targa Tasmania or Classic Adelaide if you want to see how much fun one can have down under.

No open roads here

Dublin is not the ideal place to own an autobahn hungrey Porsche 911.

Traffic congestion is woeful. Best time to drive is late at night when everyone else is tucked up warm in bed.
