				 | Front Wheel Bearing Q
I shall be replacing my front discs this weekend. I have new bearing grease seals and was planning to remove the bearing races and re-pack with grease as part of the job. I'm a little concerned at being able to press the new grease seals in without damage. Without going to the expense of a drift kit can anyone suggest a method for reliably installing these seals? I haven't got the hubs off as yet, so may be unnecessarily concerned! Thanks.

The seals are made of fairly thick metal and press in quite easily with some light hammer blows. If you are nervous just place a piece of wood over the seal and then use the hammer.

watch the angle of the wood block and tap around in a circle to keep it "flat" or at 90o whichever frame of reference you want to think about or use a plastic faced hammer and watch the bearing

I've been known to use a large socket that matched the diameter.

Thanks guys! As I thought I am unnecessarily concerned! Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I'm really looking forward to getting the car back together as I should have my std spec brakes in as good a condition as possible. I'm interested to see what they are like. In replacing the rear discs, pads and hoses I discovered (as I suspected) a problem with both rear calipers - namely seized inner pistons. I'm awaiting some rebuilt calipers.
