RUF Aero Mirrors ?

Who has these installed and are they actually functional - like if you were using on the street are they of value?

According the the Weissach website they use the existing power mechanism. I always thought they were manual. Also not clear on exactly how they mount?

Anybody BTDT?

-Jeff

I have them. I only use the driver side, the pass side is in the box. They are about useless with flat glass, you need to have convex glass on them. No electric version that I know of. Takes a while to get used to the small glass, but then it's OK.

They look similar to the 935 mirrors that attach to the door frame. If so you'll need to deal with the holes left in the door skin.

Some use a "wink" mirror to compensate for the compromised location and subsidize the mirror size.

I am not sure I am sold on them yet - I assume you could get them from the source...

It was either those or the tear drop 993 manual deals...the flags are just a little too roller boogie for me. The motorized flags feel heavy as hell also - wonder what the comparo is for the manual 993 style?

They bolt through the vent window molding or some use dbl sided tape. (which seems a little scary) Better than nothing but not much.

Sides are different from left to right so they won't interchange. Which sucks cuz then we could all sell just one. I have a pair for sale @ $200. But why not be brave and bend your neck?

l`ve got a pair in carbon fiber but the RUF ones are the best quality and require no drilling. The double sided tape is not an off the shelf quality and provides more then enough stick to keep them planted for as long as you`ll want them there. As for what`s happening behind you, well,l started with ltalian cars...ever seen Cannonball Run?
