brake booster ?

I have elimanted some of the cis and vacum related parts and decided that there was no need for 2 lines going from the cis to the brake booster hose.. I figured it created another spot in which to bypass air threw the throttle boddy(or around really) causing for high idle speed etc.. After completing this the car as a hole runs way better(after I dialed it in.. But now the power brake booster only works well when the throttle plate is completly closed.. This is an 81 engine so it has this little branch part meant to feed the brake booster from the back of the throttle body and go to the left side of the air box.. It is VW part but it is very free flowing is this ccorrect or is there suppose to be a check valve of some sort in there?? Any thought are much appreciated..

Ben --

I believe there is supposed to be a check valve called a venturi valve. If you do a search for brakes + venturi you should see a thread or two describing the part.
