Question Monty muffler vs Fabspeed in 3.2

I keep hearing about monty mufflers but have no idea where to get one or to find out any info on them. I would also like to know how they compare to the fab speed single in dual out muffler I already have the fab speed euro pre muffler and love the change. Anyone out there that can provide me with some info?

Montys are from Australia, and are quiet cheap here compared with other mufflers.

However I think they are more expensive in the USA.

Anyway here is a USA distributor.

I think I paid around $800 AU which is probably about $600 US.

For a 3 inch single in single out brand new.

We save on Montys, but SSI's cost the earth here.

Monty also makes Ferrari mufflers for anyone who might be interested.

Why can't Montys fabricate some SSI's for us down here. If they can make a nice muffler why not the headers?????

Can anyone recommend a nice monty muffler to go with a set of SSI's on an 83SC. I am looking to backdate the exhaust and muffler system. I want something with a very nice sound and free flowing.

Is there any benefits to dual out as opposed to single out or is it for looks only.

Prices are:

3 inch dual in single out AU$800
4 inch dual in single out AU$880
4 inch dual in dual out AU$950

They are stainless stell inside and out and reportedly last forever. I am saving up for the 4 in dual in single out and a set of SSI's.

Maybe Santa will be nice to me.

Damo,

MB911 on this board makes muffler's for SSI's. I think US$450 or so and you can have a variety of designs. Appears the feedback is excellent quality and very light with a loud "early 70's" sound.

There was someone with a Monty on his Carrera during the open house at The Racers Group's new digs in Petaluma, sounded real nice.

"I already have the fab speed euro pre muffler and love the change."

What does that mean? Sound, performance?

Only asking because I am very skeptical of everyting Fabspeed says after they told me my 3.0 SC would get an extra 22hp from a Fabspeed muffler. LOL. Does the muffler happen to come with a 3.2 attached? Whatever....

Oh,

I forgot to mention I have a 4inch Monty single in single out. Very deep growl. Loud, sets off alarms in car parks, puts a big smile on my face!

At idle is deep rumble, almost V8 like. Screams upt to redline and is in my mind and my girlfriends (how loves the sound and pushed me to buy my car partly because of it) as nice a sounding car as any at club meets shy of a GT3.

At cruising speed it is suprisingly quite for what it is and was not a problem for our longest trip to date of 4 hours at freeway speeds.

Love the extra power I pulled the cat off and installed the premuffler noticeable difference in power and sound. also looks pretty good . mine is a ROW version so it was never really meant to have a cat anyways. It also fit correctly , so i was hoping the regular muffler would do as well also

Does the CAT come out? That could explain some of the HP gain...

horsepower claims are a bunch of twisted interpertations of seat of pants dyno runs for the most part. It comes down to the look, sound and build quality, I have noticed very improved throttle response . its all in what you want.. montys are nice but expensive.. Good luck in your decision
