How rare is this 930?

.
930 for sale.

.
Quote:
This is an extremely rare car and no, the price is not a mistake, it is a very early 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe 3.0 litre, No. 132 off the line in 1976. It has the very small secondary engine cooling vent produced for one year only and is an original UK RHD car.
The Chassis Number is 9306700132

Why no intercooler?
Are the headlamp washers correct?
Boost gauge instead of clock?
Only 3.0?
Correct tail?

Comments welcome- I may go and see it and want to know what to look for/ask about/poke with stick

That looks like alot of rust.

I don't think that car was galvanised, or was it?

The periscope style headlight washers is correct.

I think boost guage may be correct. And intercoolers came later.

it's a somewhat rare car relative to 930s, though not rare enough to command a higher price. in fact it should be priced below a '78 and later 930 due to its lesser performance numbers.

the decklid "turbo" script is incorrect. i'm not sure about the boost gauge, but i doubt it's correct.

that said, the "turbo carrera" of '76 and '77, came from the factory with a 234 hp 3.0 liter sans intercooler. the headlamp washers and the tail also appear to be correct - the 930 didn't receive the tea tray tail until '78 when it also received the intercooler and bump in displacement to 3.3 liters.

great interior and exterior colors!

The early 930's (75-77) did not have intercoolers, and that is the correct tail for the non-intercooled turbos. They ran 3.0L (260 HP Euro version). The washer ped's were the tall ones. They didn't have a boost gauge in the tach, but I have one in my 77 930, and I've never seen a boost gauge in the clock spot come stock on these cars.

I think they were all galvanized after 74, right? Not sure though, maybe it was 77? That car is rusty alright!

Tim,
I'm 90% sure that the US versions of the 76-77 930's had the "Turbo carrera" script and the Euro versions of the same year had the "Turbo" script. (I think there was a few threads on that, or maybe it was on rennlist...) In fact I think The Euro "Turbo" script is a little smaller font than the US versions.
Cheers,

mike - you're 100% correct. somehow i managed to overlook the fact that this is a euro 930. one would think i would have figured it out given the rhd. i also stand corrected on the hp figure i gave, you were also correct in stating 260 rather than 234.

looks like kind of a beater. 76 didn't have power brakes either. can be had for less than $20K over here, at the moment. probably a good investment if the price is right, because not many were made.

No worries, Tim! The only reason I know these little tidbits is because my 77 930 is a Euro, and I have to explain to folks that think mine is a hack-jobbed US version...

I'm becoming interested in the early 930's. These cars were a revelation when they were introduced. Sure the 930 improved through the years (up through '89) but the relative simplicity of the 3.0's & the fact that they were the 'first' might make them more of a collectors item. I think there were something like 3,000 3.0 930's produced.

What is a good source for value guidance on these? Does anyone have BA's values & are these accurate?

It's not rare enough to be worth much in that condition.

That car in that condition in Southern California would be lucky to fetch more than $15,000.
If you spend up to $8k to fix it up (rust, paint, interior, whatever mechanicals it needs) it would be worth maybe $20k.
