I'm going to need your support less I fall off the wagon

Pelicanites,

I've recently had a frothing mug of the lightweight/backdated cool-aid. (damn you souk) As an update, I've lost all components of the A/C, added the fiberglass ducktail, and even removed the stereo/speakers. So now my daily driver is around 2660# with full tank of gas. I've also recently dropped 15 lbs off my person making the car around 2860# when I'm loaded.

No problem so far, right? Well, I drive about 12 miles each way to work, and I live in South Texas. Today it was in the 90's.

Here is the deal. I need everyone to promise to kick me in the junk and call me rude names if I start asking questions about air conditioning and luxury upgrades for the P-Car. I'm committed thus far, but I might need your help when it hits 110 degrees in another month or so.

Thanks, and I appreciate the help.

Nice car.
It has inbuilt A/C. Just remove the roof.

Like the wheels

Brother, I ain't touching your junk! :D
Just tell yourself this: "It's a race car! It's a race car! It's a race car!" And drive faster -- you'll cool off fine.

vash 05-19-2005 04:50 PM

holy crap dude. i have been to del rio. it is hot like africa there. you are a better man that me. i would be honored to kick you in the junk when you are weak.

nice car. keep the top on, gives you a chance with the killer bees :D

Brother 05-19-2005 04:56 PM

What in God's name brought you down here?

vash 05-19-2005 05:13 PM

Brother:

Your 911 sure does look nice! You gotta get another cheap ride though to survive heat like that. I live in Los Angeles County and it gets hot as hell here too. I drove my Black 911 Targa exclusively for two years and flippin fried on the hot days. Thank God it was only going to and coming back from work. I would have been a sweat bomb if had to go to a mid-day meeting somewhere. Anyway, I bought a truck with A/C and now I too am thinking about pulling the A/C out of my 911. It is nice to have the truck. It carries our new dirtbikes real well too--hehe!

Get another cheaper vehicle with A/C.

Hang tough.

LOL!!!! Me Gusta! Just go faster to cool yourself off! When I was a kid we could never afford a car with AC...we took yearly road trips to Texas to visit family....and we didn't need no stinkin AC! :D And we liked it that way!

The more you sweat..the more HP right! Free HP...lighter...lighter...lighter :D

(No actually, I pretty much a puss now...I live in Alabama for a few years and HAD to have AC. If I didn't, I would have had to bring a change of clothes every day to change into after the morning commute to the office....and it was just Alabama! Think of your summers and we do our winters..we need a warm car..you need a cool car. Can't have both in a "real" 911...so find a beater Honda for the commute)

BESIDES! Who ever saw a real early race car with AC ... no... BBII doesn't count..it's pretty much a new car :)

Don't worry Brother man....if you start thinking AC, I'll send the GruppeB bastards after you :D WUF! WUF!

Hey, where's those window hangin' evaporative coolers form the 1950's? I guess they don't work all that well in ol' humidity TX. ;) Saved many a family driving across the desert.

Hey, I remember asking ARE YOU SURE, before we starting pulling all that stuff. The Duck turned out well. Del Rio, just how much traffic can there be.Remember Paul,i'm doing this daily on 410 and 35,but I also have a pool to fall into once home.If you need some help in either direction..."Pete" is an A/C pro...and cheap.

Brother,

LOL! I feel the same way. Temps are getting into the 90s last day or two and I'm sweating (in a coupe with sunroof non/op), so you've got it better in that lovely targa of yours. I, too, want to shed weight as the car responds great! But it's days like these that tempt me. I just keep telling myself how expen$ive it would be to get an a/c that actually works. There...that cure it! :)

15lbs and 2 inches came off the gut. Started running again. That and my new job doesn't allow for intermittent snacking.

The $1,000 cool suit and helmet breather option would be cheaper than a new A/C.

Bruce, I'll give you credit. You did say that, and I still meant it. We'll see if I regret it.

I don't wear a business suit for a living, but my flight suit will be plenty sweaty by the time I'm leaving work anyways.

Milt, was that an attempt to add a bazooka bass tube to your dad's car?

bigchillcar 05-20-2005 12:34 PM

damn..i used to fly old learjets (cargo) in and out of del rio in the 90's from time to time..hot as hades, but i lived in el paso at the time, so waht's the diff..lol what equipment are you in?

Brother 05-20-2005 12:39 PM

T-38 IP, that's like being paid to date a Supermodel, that's not "work". Well, maybe with some students....

I got my brief stint with T-38s at Vance (just a little north of you) about 11 years ago...
