Spring Plate Bushing Replacement
I was advised when I have the PPI done on my '83 SC that I should replace the rear spring plate bushings. There are a lot of great threads on the subject so I feel well armed to take on the task.
The question I have is this - what else can I do that does not require that much extra work? Is there anything complementary I can do? Thanks |

If you are just doing the rear spring plate bushing...no...not really. You might replace the sway bar bushings, but that's about it for the stuff that "does not require that much extra work."

It's an ideal time to change Torsion Bars if that is on your plan of upgrades, otherwise as Souk says, there's not a whole lot more to that aspect of the car.

New rear shocks are an easy install & you're half way there once they're off the trailing arm (ok, that's the easiest part, I know).

Yes, the torsoin bars. You might also do the trailing arm inner bushing at the same time. And while you've got the trailing arm out, might as well replace the wheel bearings.

once you open up the suspension this far....do everything you need to do. Torsion bar upgrade, all bushings, wheel bearings. I did this for the rear and front. Because this is all changed, drop the car to Euro specs, get a good wheel alignment and corner ballance. It is going to cost you, but the end result is a car that has the feel and track of a new one. My feel is that it is worth it.
