3.2 short-stroke experts, some questions:

When rebuilding a 3.0 liter SC engine into a 3.2 with 98mm P/C, where do you get the top, and bottom, seals for the Mahle big-bore kit?
The bottom should have a copper-type seal where the cyl. meets the case and an Alu-type seal for the head.
I don't see these seals in the PP catalog; they do show the 98mm rings but not the seals.
Aside from the SC-gasket set for the rebuild, what else would you recommend? What to watch for? Thanks.SmileWavy

I hope you don't have SC 95 mm cylinders that were bored out.....you should have the 3.2 95mm cylinders that were bored out. Or Mahle 98mm kit....

Dr Gunter,
I see you are going ahead w/ your project. Sorry I didn't respond to your pm. My conversion was done so long ago (15 yr) that I don't know the answer to your question. I do remember @ the time that I was told the engine was done per Bruce Anderson's writeup in his Performance Handbook and was a very popular mod for people taking posession of their brand new SCs to have done by specialists in Germany. W/ the increased displacement and SSI backdating, they were apparently getting 230 hp, even w/ stock CIS.

Good luck and let us know how things go.

If Pelican doesn't have them, you can buy large bore copper base gaskets in varying thickness (.25, .5 or 1mm) from Andial. Number is 714.957.3900 or www.andial.com Ask for Pete Sanchez.

Wrightwood Racing would be another excellent source, probably a better option than Andial. They have the best quality gasket sets available (they supply gasket sets for many of the pro engine shops/tuners) and can make you a set to your specs. They will also carry the base gaskets and sealing rings necessary. Phone number is 805.385.7191 and speak to Charlie, Joan or Rosemary.
