Wobble,wobble
I drive a '77 911 3.0 and have 16" Remotec offset wheels on the front end. I continually get wheel wobble @ 60-65MPH. Have had the wheels balanced to perfection. Is this a geometry thing? Is the offset causing a balance problem? Thanks.

I wobble like that usually means a bent wheel.

Worn tie rod ends, worn/loose bearings? Tough to say without more information. Is there any play when you rock the wheels with your hands in the 12 and 6 oclock position?
|
With my 77, it was the (front) tires. I replaced all 4, and the problem vanished.

Have the same problem at 60 mph with my targa, I checked the balance 2 times and this woble seems to be worse my targa top is off. don't ask me why, I have no clue
The only thing I can think is that one my (new) tires is defective. I will have to find someone to swap tires with and see what happen. |
I replaced my tie rods with turbos and it made a dramatic difference. I had the same wobble at freeway speeds.

if able, do a simple front to rear rotation and check..negative front camber wore my front's more on the inside giving me vibration at speed..rotating cured it. that was my problem - i'd negelected a 6 month roatation..won't again..

Re "wooble"
*Checking tie rods *Wheel balance on car good idea due to possible uncentered hub extensions. Thanks |
