Strange rattle coming from fan area
I know this is vague and a long shot but I've got a strange rattle that has gotten louder over the past week coming from what seems to be inside the fan shroud. Anyone experience this? How should I go about trouble shooting this?

hope it isn't cam chains..try placing something like a screwdriver against the cam covers and listen to eliminate them. otherwise, perhaps a bearing going bad in the alternator..disconnect the fan belt and run the engine BRIEFLY to see if the noise stops or continues.

jon,
just realized that you have a 3.6 (you lucky )..hopefully others will chime in who have 3.6 experience, although i think the aforementioned test would still be applicable for you. good luck.ryan

On 3.6L there is a fan belt sensor. It's basically a roller that presses against the fan belt. It could be lose or worn out.
