How do you fit a cool collar on a AC'd 3.2?
Anyone with advice on how to fit a cool collar on a 3.2 with AC? The technical article on the board shows the method on an SC I think...which does not have the airfilter intake thingie to contend with.
Perhaps my question is how do I take off the airfilter box intake? Simon

I think the more important question on this board would be: Why would you want to put a cool collar on a 3.2?

Sorry Sammy!
I should add, in regards to the cool collar, that it makes a very nice pencil holder for your work bench, desk, etc. |

All smart a$$ comments aside, a cool collar won't hurt anything and will actually lower the oil temperature. Whether or not that temperature drop is enough to actually measure is debatable (and had been debated to death).
As far as installing one on an air conditioned 3.2, sorry I can't help. |

Wouldn't the installation also require a layer of heat sink compound to transfer the heat from the filter case to the cool collar? Otherwise I don't see it working very effectively. Added airflow would also help.

I'll skip the editorial content and get to your question.
I haven't done this before, but how about installing the CC on the filter before installing the filter? Got enough room? Sherwood (no affiliation to CC or oil filter) |

Since I got mine on a dare from Wayne (there is a post about it somewhere)... I own one now.
I had to cut mine in half, then assemble it on the filter. Pretty easy, actually.

I used one on my 83SC and tried to fit it on my 89 3.2
I gave up... it just would not go on. I just read Emission's soultion.... Genius ! .....where is my hacksaw ? I have to say though my 3.2 runs pretty cool, I do have the extrudehoned plemtums and the bored throttle body so I'm guessing that has something to do with it. I never drove the car stock, I bought it and had all this done before I ever drove the car. I live in Louisiana and it is already in the 90's, I don't think my cooling fan has ever come on. I don't drive it hard and I only drive on weekends. My temp indicator stays just below 1/2 way. Chuck |

Thanks to all the guys who answered my question! Looks like I have to cut it (or send it back...for all the guys who read other things into my question...).
