Insurance saga

So, before buying the car, I call two "collector/classic/exotic" car insurers: AON and American Colletors. American Collectors is right out because they have a 5000 mile limit. So I google, and call AON. No mileage limits (silly me, I thought that meant I could drive the car to the ball game if I wanted to), and only $165/year, so I send in the application. On the app, it asks if I intend to "race or participate in any timed events". Of course, I answer honestly and say "yes, PCA and SCCA sponsored autocross and DE events." (SOUND OF LOUD BUZZER) "Thanks for playing, but your eliminated, and don't re-apply because ve hav you in our data base. Ve are vatching". So, on to Snead, Gulfwind, Haggerty's, and Pearce Hancock. Talk about hard to get a straight answer! Some allow autocross, Haggerty's "gray area" about driving to work "once in a while", use limitations, etc. Allright, I'll try my regular carrier, USAA. Not to bad a premium ($430/year, 50/100, uninsured, stackable with the other two cars, 500/1000 deductible's, no other options), but they use "acutual cash value" (insurance speak for "depreciated for 28 years") instead of street value. What the agent did tell me was to take lots of photo's and get an appraisal, and be prepared to utilize the arbitration clause.
So, in the interest of peace of mind, I took the USAA option.

Anybody else got any idea, other then hitting the lotto, suing my doctor, and self-insuring?

Under the assumption that your car is not covered on the track, you may as well say "No, it won't raced". What you do with the car, during the time when it is not covered by insurance, isn't any of their business.

I flunked my AON application because my car is a euro model. That was the only reason for denial. Bastages.

Do a search on Pelican about Haggerty and other insurance companies.

This subject has been flogged several times but there is good info in the archives. Friend of mine uses Haggerty and likes them but he does not DE or race.
