962 engine

Hi
Have you an idea of the (real) 962 engine value ?
I could buy a custom car fitted with a 962 engine and 959 gearbox, seller ask to make an offer (GT2 look)

best regards
Philippe

Do you have specifics on the configuration and/or history of the engine?

If it is a 962 engine with a flat fan complete 30-55k depending on condition and what configuration. 962s came with a carbon flat fan and shroud (dark) , 935's a fiber glass flat fan and shroud (yellow)..the complete flat fan set up is worth 15k alone

I think it would be useful to have the Id #. You would be able to reconstruct the history and compare the current condition/mods to the factory specs.

Having said that I have no idea of what these engines go for.

There were a couple of threads here on the BBS about the flat fan setup and consensus seemed to value them at around 12-15 (like VZ935 said).

The mkt for these special engines is failry illiquid. There is a limited supply, but also the demand is quite small.

Good luck in any case... It looks like a fun set up.

Uhhhhhh,.....we can repair those, no problem. Parts are available as long as one has a good source.

Andial built some of those engines back when the cars were still winning races, they may have sources for parts or may be able to ID a serial number.

Yep, I was there at the tail end of the single turbo air-cooled version and the duration of the twin-turbo water-cooled motors. If you can get me an engine number I may be able to get you some info regarding the history of the engine. All of the late 3.0L and 3.2L air-cooled flat-fan Andial motors had red shrouds with polished intake plenums. Remember, there were other people building these motors for IMSA as well, including Ed Pink who was building them for Jim Busby (for a small period), Hotchkiss and Kalagian teams. The "big 3" (Holbert, Dyson & Bayside/Bruce Leven) all used Andial prepared motors. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe a non Andial prepared 962 motor ever won an IMSA race from 1984>, with the exception of Joest Racing winning the 1991 24 Hours of Daytona.

Lots of people rebuilding these for vintage racing (like Steve mentioned), including Eric Bloss at Porsche Motorsport, Steve Becker (who assisted with my engine build), Neil Harvey at Performance Developments, etc.

Ralph
