Unsuccessful sunroof repair

Well, the good thing is that I learned how every piece of my sunroof works, after taking it apart and rebuilding it a couple of times. My passenger side cable had come loose, so I thought I'd take it apart and do Island's epoxy trick. Apparently, the cable has come loose before, and the PO did some kind of homemade crimp job that made it so I couldn't poke the cable out the end of the slider for separating and epoxying. I thought I could use som JB Weld on the inside of the slider, but it didn't hold.

In the process, I put a tiny rip in the sunroof headliner under the sun visor. And I put a tiny scratch on the roof. I'm such a dumbass. Oh, well.

I guess my plan now is to buy a new cable. Does anyone know if the cables Pelican sells work with the sliders, etc., in my car now? Or do I need to buy a whole bunch of new pieces?

Yep, SoCal, you answered my question. Can you file the new cable down with just a file, or do you need a machine like a dremel or a grinder?

I replace mine. Just keep your old ones and file to match with the new. I kept the felt. For no other reason other then I was never told to remove it when installing. Has worked fine since.

I actually cut just a bit of the 'spiral" off of the cable end, so that the cable end would push, just that little bit, past the slider body. (a dremel with one of those skinny cut-off disks makes quick work of cutting that spiral back. . . seemed simpler than dealing with fuzzy cables)

I figured I'd install the one piece style air deflector while I was in there.
