Help '88 3.2 throttle quitting with accel.

Hi everyone, hope my first post would have been under better circumstances, but my '88 3.2 Carrera with 94k miles is having throttle problems.

Start up and idle is usually fine. Before problems arose, idle would be at 800 rpm. Now, idle is at 1200 rpm. Main problem however is at immediate high throttle application, engine nearly stalls (<300 rpm) momentarily and then comes up to 3k rpm. After releasing accelerator, engine again idles at 1200 rpm but problem again occurs at immediate high throttle application. When car is able to achieve an 800 rpm idle, the problem no longer occurs.

Periodically at startup, idle surges from 1k to 3k and back to 1k. It repeats this indefinitely. Upon shut off and restart it will idle fine.

DME relay and cylinder head temp. sensor have both been replaced to no avail. Ran well for 2 weeks and then problem reoccured.

I'd guess the mass air flow sensor may be the issue, but only a guess. Check out many previous threads. Their is a potentiometer which wears out in the air flow barn door mechanism.

Make sure your CO mixture is correct BEFORE you go through everything else. Have it checked by a pro with the right equipment.
