Can an unsigned money order be deposited?

Sold my old radio on Ebay and the seller sent an unsigned money order. No, it's not from Nigeria.

I'm sure it was an honest mistake, but wonder how the bank will handle it.

Legally, no it can't!
I had to give an attorney his money up front on an occasion long ago and gave him the fund useing American Express Travlers checks with only the top one signed.
He tried to cash them and dicovered he would actually have to do the "work" before getting paid even though he had the money.

There is a place for a signature on this money order? What else is on the order? Is the other information printed or written? I haven't seen a whole lot of them, but wasn't aware that any money orders required any signature from the purchaser (the sender).

In any case, if it is just a simple error on the part of the sender, just contact him asking him to give you permission to sign his name on the money order (keep this communication in case there is any dispute later). If he gives you permission to sign his name, sign it and deposit or cash it.

Related side note: If there is any question about the authenticity of a money order or check you've received, if you cash it against your bank account (rather than deposit it directly into your account), your bank often will not charge you a fee if it comes back bad. They'll take the funds out of your account to cover the check/MO, but you often won't get hit with an extra fee on top things.

the buyer writes in his name and address, and that of the recipient, and that's all. no signature required.
