Oil in Exhaust?
My 75 911s sat for 4 years before I bought it. I am going thru it slowly. I can make it run for a moment by putting gasoline down the throttle bodies, so I at least know its compressing, ect. I think there must be some FI problems, which I can fix. Heres my question:
I was putting new gaskets in the heat exchanger, and having it bead blasted and I notice a buch of oil was in the header and collector (no thermal reactor, the PO took it off?). I have heard this is normal with boxter engines, as oil pools arounf the cylinders/valve trains. Has anyone ever had this happen? Thanks!

Let's get this started for you. Oil will drain back into the case over time.
It can leak into the cylinders, many Porsches will give a hello puff of oil smoke at startup. If the car sat for a long time, I guess the oil could make it's way into a cylinder and out a open valve. David 89 turbo cab |
