easiest repair yet
Just replaced the steering column bushing on my 1985 carrera. That was the easiest repair I have done on the car so far to fix a rather large problem. After determining the horn pad just popped off, the rest was a breeze. Cleaned up the remnants of the old bushing, removed the C-clip and the new bushing just slipped right in. Almost had a smoke afterwards. For those who don't have a 23mm socket (Me Me) I used an 1-1/8" 1/2" drive with a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer. The offset of the opening in the wheel to get to the nut did not look big enough for the 1/2" drive extention. The 3/8" cleared just fine and with a few wheaties the nut came off with out a problem. I didn't disconnect the battery. I just pulled the horn fuse. Seemed to work ok. Just thought I would share. *** Weekly schedule - Track on Wednesday - Fix car broken at track Thursday thru Tuesday. Repeat.
