Flooding
Now that I know it isn't the WUR, I start a systematic review for spark, fuel, etc. What is apparent is that it keeps wanting to flood. I can prop the pop-of valve open and it tries to start, and does occasionally, but it is inconsistent. What would cause it to flood? (77-2.7 CIS)

Are you sure your mixture is set correctly? (Not too rich?)
Also, check your Cold Start Valve and Thermo Time Switch. |
As I continue to investigate, let me add one more symptom that just started. When it does start, it acts like the throttle is stuck wide open and causes a very powerful back fire (emphasis on loud and fire)

i sent you a PM. your last post makes me more sure. your plunger on your fuel distributor is stuck.

Medic
Hey, first I just want to say thanks to all on this forum as your help is unbelievably beneficial. I am now at a point where it's best I take in to the shop. I just don't want to screw anything up. I'll let you know what the problem was when it gets fixed. My mechanic* actually stopped by my house this morning and got it started. But, after he left, I went to start it and the throttle is stuck open and the plunger seems to be working ok, soooo - me thinks I should leave well enough alone. But hey THANKS GUYS! Deane
*Gary Clark Renn-Tech Auburn, CA I highly recommend! |
