Black R Gruppe 911 spotted on Costa Mesa
I usually dont do this, but i saw a BEAUTIFUL long hood lwb 911 in Costa Mesa today. The owner parked next to my white 912 at about 1:00 today. It was black with RS rear flares and ducktail and 2.9 on the engine lid. 15" fuchs with 930 brakes, under body sway bar, 915 trans. It looked badass. Does it belong to a pelicanite?
It had a vanity plate, but I'd rather not post the lisence number.

Sounds like Ray Crawford's 70 S. Did it have a silver R Gruppe script along the rocker panels?

Nope, no silver. It had deco trim up front and in back but not on the side and had fog lights on the grills. It looked brand new inside and out. I spent like 10 minutes drooling over it and was waiting to catch the owner, but I had to go.
Lets see what else I can remember: it had a newer looking cd player, dunlop 225 50 15s in rear and dunlops up front (205s?), and R Gruppe Porsche crest decal up front, no bumper guards up front, painted guards in the back, single plug, carbs, dual exit exhaust. Thats about all I could tell about the car by just looking and not touching.

Hmm, I dont think it was Dick's car. A quick search pulled up these pics:
![]() ![]() It was single plug, bare fiberglass fan shroud, and it had individual air cleaners (they were red), and it had painted rear bumper guards and no fog lights in back. And it had black center caps on the fuchs i think. Oh well, it was a really nice car nonetheless. I just though it would be cooler if it was a pelicanite

hope it wasn't mine!!!
EXCEPT for the single plug, you are writing about Dick Moran's car.
To mistake my car for his is a MAJOR complement. I have taken pages from the Dick Moran play book every chance I can... Dick has changed his personal plates, now has ITG Filters, among other things from his visit to the NorthWest. 99.999% sure you are writing about his car. His Speedster was in Excellence, I wouldn't be surprised to read about his 911 there also. Besides, I am at work right now, hope no one was driving my car today
