Tech guru's - 993TT Air flow sensor test??????

During a track day we had generator problems and therefore the car went into limp home mode. Now we can not get it out of limp home mode and afaik it should reset itself when power is restored but there are some faults stored in the ECU. We can erase them but they reappear. It seems like the Bosch tester we use is not completely compatible with the Porsche ECU. We can read dwell angle, rpm, throttle position, but not the mass flow sensor.

And now to the big question, how do we test the air flow meter??

I've done a search and this came up:
Converting 964 AFM to 993 MAF http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/149661-converting-964-afm-993-maf.html
tholyoak states 12v power to the sensor and single wire for signal, but there are 4 pins in the plug?? Which pin is used for what and is 160mV with no flow correct???
