Replacing clutch on a 72

When I pulled off the pressure plate it used 6 triple square bolts and 3 allen head bolts. I have new allen head bolts but was wondering if I should I reuse the triple squares?

Thanks,

Jay

My '72 had the aluminum pressure plate and all the bolts were socket head cap screws. I'm not sure what you mean by triple squares....and I'm a fastener geek too. Do you have a picture?

Also, it totally depends upon the bolt size and the torque applied. If you're not yielding, or permanently stretching the bolt, there's typically no issues re-using.

Tough for me to get a good picture, i tried, but I think a "triple suare" is a 12 point socket head and has a lower profile, like flywheel bolts. Anyway, ended up using my original bolts because I know they worked. Hope to know in about a month, still have to do a few things before the motor goes back in.

Ahh, I see. If they're just securing the pressure plate to the flywheel, I don't believe any of these are stretch bolts. You'll be fine!

Thanks Jay.

If you are talking about the six big 12 point bolts in the middle of the flywheel, i.e. flywheel bolts....these definately need replacing.
