Opinions, this may be my next ride/project w/ pic

Not sure why I keep coming back to this one, maybe it’s the odd ball color. I know it’s a little rough but if the price is right I would look to clean it up and make some nice mods. Lets hear the opinions, the good the bad and surely the ugly. Thanks, here is the link..

Great price, just not sure I could live with that color.

good luck

TRE< thanks I am pretty well aware of the faults in a 993. One of the reasons I am looking at 1995's is for the OBDI which does not trigger the CEL problems and its easily chipped. Usually the people here have a pretty keen eye for details that I may miss.

Right rear has a slow leak - looks like it's been curbed in the front. Right front caliper sticking? Seams look good. Driver's seat bolster wear is pretty bad. Missing rear seat belt bolt covers. Other than that - it looks like it's in really good shape.

The Color is very nice in reality , the Interieur match ,if it is Rubicon .
95 is a good year , OBD 1 not Airports , only 1 Lambdasensor .
I would make sur that the servicerecords are up to par since the Mileage is quite high .
The Engines are good for 200 K if they are serviced right . 2 Mass Flywheel is another issue ,as well as Clutch .

The owner has not been very helpful with any info or history on the car. I may wait ans see how the auction ends.

hmm. when a seller is reluctant to give you as much info as possible, that is a major turn off!

Although I have bought cars on eBay I don’t see any pressing need to big here and I will wait and see where this auction ends and go from there. Always plenty of fish in the sea.

COLOR??????

It is UNIQUE, too purple for my taste. Looks clean! Maybe with some chrome wheels, and a white top would "freshen it up"

my brother tried to talk his friend into a pristine '89 instead of a pristine '95. Both had around 40-50k mi. The friend bought the '95 and has been spending about $2k per week for the last month to a shop that's playing catch up.

I have a buddy that has a purple turbo like that color. He doesnt drive it because everybody gives him a hard time about the color. It's a 1991 and it has 14,000 miles.

Sure it's unique - but I couldn't get past the color

Thanks for ALL the opinions guys. As I said I am taking a wait and see with this one.

Jmarenas, I was actually starting to make a budget to go the other way I am not a fan of chrome. Powder coated black wheels, lowered, new front bumper cap (turbo style) that’s sort of look, with some more performance goodies.

Ronnie B I was not sure of your point there? I guess you’re a fan of the 3.2 Carreras. If the 995 was in pristine condition your brother’s buddy would not be putting 2k a week into it.

Jeremy thanks as always for your comments.

I'm a fan of any car that can be reliable, easily diagnosed, and repaired.

My point was that the 993 is a noticeably more expensive car to repair than an '89.

There should be a survey of all the guys that have gone to 993 and wish they hadn't.

good luck

I am not sure you'll find that many regrets after buying a good 993 in the overall Porsche population. My point was that any pristine car should not have to spend weeks on end at the shop, obviously that car was not pristine.

Ive been specifically interested in 1995's in ordetr to avoid some of the pit falls of the OBDII, although I dont believe thats a huge deal. Look at the number of people who swap a varioram motor into their older car.
