My Car sounds like a cheap motel bed

Squeak,squeak, Squeak-

when I push down on the passenger side front fender. But not the other side. Is this the shock absorber or something else in the suspension that may need grease. thanks guys

What kind of bushings do you have? I have heard that the poly graphite ones can squeak. Have you looked under that car at the suspension components (especially if you have a helper push the car up and down to recreate the squeak)?

this problem happened very suddenly. This morning it was just squeaking. IM not sure about the bushings, probably stock. It seems like it would be a quick diagnosis. I wasnt sure if it was the shocks that could make a sueaking like that.

Mine does the same thing, but very randomly. It will squeak for a day and then not do it again for four months, then again for a day. It's weird. I can't make the squeak by pushing on the front, it only happens under way, and I only hear it driving very slowly in a bumpy parking lot.

Actually it's possible that it's doing it more than I think, but I just don't hear it when driving faster.

Old dried rubber can squeak with humidity. Spray a little wd-40 on the joints or grease the fittings if you have zerks. Like mine, yours probably could use some new bushings.

Or you could just a put another quarter in and wait for it to vibrate.

Yeah, but you need a 19mm Allen wrench & pygmy hands to get to the slot.

Suspension Bushing Grease

Go down to your AutoZone. They stock "Energy Suspension Formula Five Prelube" It's about $5 for an 1/2 oz. packet. Or order the 8 oz. tub Part number 9.11104 about $16

You can get this from Performance Products, Summit or AutoZone (with no shipping costs).

This is the wonder stuff for swaybar bushings and poly carb bushings.

thanks for the input guys.

Jim, thats exactly what mine is doing. Doesnt squeak all the time and then only on the local (dirt ) road out here.

Im not sure about putting a quarter in, but im sure if I put another $800.00 everything will be fine for this week. But its a great car and i love it.

Dirt road in SF bay area?

Where are you at Brett?

Now that you are throwing dirt into the equation, I'll bet the lube idea will work for you

Cbeers,

Im in the santa cruz mountains. Nice roads up here but I have a few rough local (paved) roads on my commute to San Jose. The only dirt portion is our 300+ yard driveway. Thats the squeaky bit.

Are you running a front strut brace ? I was hunting down a squeak from the front suspension for a long time, before realizing that the strut brace (Weltmeister) was rotating the upper rubber bushings causing the squeak. After disconnecting the strut brace the squeak is gone.

Brett,

Nice! I am on the other side of those hills in Santa Clara, but get up there a lot for Skyline runs and also climbing and hiking at Castle Rock.

So, we should be expecting you on the next fun run then right?
