Cool video, the straight where the driver of the Z06 kinda throws his hand up in discontent was crazy, the 930 just leaves him like he's standing still.

I love how you can here the 930's exhaust even when its pretty far ahead from inside the corvette over the sound of its V8.
This is certainly one of the better track vids I have seen in a while, though I know I am pretty biased due to the fact that its a modified 930. |

Very cool. I like the WTF hand gesture after he catches the 930 then it just disappears.

Interesting, but a bit confusing. Either the 930 driver was toying with him or just didn't know how to drive that well. With the way the 930 past him at the beginning, he should of been a distant memory to the Z06 and not been in his rearview mirror the whole time. All things equal, I'd say the Z06 was a better driver.

I have to watch it at work with no sound. Looks like they're barely breaking the speed limit. Sound obviously adds a lot!

It appears the only time the corvette ever catches up is going into the corners via late and hard braking. The 930 in comparison has a lot more speed to bleed off and needs to be a bit more conservative with his braking strategy.
I would bet the 930 driver isn't going through brake pads and tires as fast as the Z06 owner is. |

Looks like the 930 driver was missing some apexes toward the end - the Z06 driver was driving hard and smooth to catch up. And he did

Yes, hard braking (threshold?) is pure preference, but totally acceptable of course. I think the only reason the 930 blows by the vette is b/c the vette had to hang behind the cobra for a bit, probably while the 930 was full throttle.
Both very good drivers obviously. Very fun video, and serious illustration of the power difference. Regards,

I think I read a quick blurb about the Z06 when I first saw that video (about 6 mths ago) and it wasn't stock either....

Looked kinda quiet at the track.
You wouldn't suppose a guy in an older Porsche might want to taunt a newer Vette a little do yah ? |

The front of the video says "2002 Z06 - Hoosiers, PFC pads, headers/exhaust w/passenger (chasing 650 HP race Porsche)"
I guess it was the passenger that slowed him down. If a mildly modified Z06 isn't a race Corvette, what makes that a "race" Porsche? Actually, unless the Porsche were on street tires, the 'vette was driven better. Y'know, maybe "race" is the new way of saying "Really nice looking." Man, I have a race wife!

Hmmm...Corvettes are definitely NOT my cup of tea, but that was more than a little embarassing for the "650" bhp Porsche. The Vette with its dumbass two tone steering wheel, ungloved pilot, and extra passenger weight seems to easily hold its own in the braking and turning areas. At no time did the Corvette driver seem on the edge either. Great quality video, however, as a Porsche fanatic, I am going to forget I ever saw that.
