Head gasket advice on 3.2
I have started work on my 85 3.2 with 120K on the clock and when I removed the alt/fan I noticed what looks like a gasket leak. Is this a sign of a blown head gasket? The car ran fine and the plugs are great prior to work start. I'm just doing basic maintenance stuff on her.
I will be adjusting the valves in the next few day's and am wondering if that will allow me to perform some sort of check on the head bolts or anything else you pro's recommend. Thanks

The 3.2 has no gasket or rings...it's a metal to metal contact. Check you head stud torque.

I assume I will have access to the head bolts with the valve covers off yes? Anything to watch out for or is it a straightforward torque wrench adj/check?
Thanks souk

Gost...yep it's pretty straight forward..with valve covers off. The leak is from the cylinder base shim...sometimes they seep. Being that you have have evidence of oil on top of the seam...it's a good idea to check....It's not a major issue if you studs are not broken and are torqued, but checking your head studs is easy.
Good luck. |

Gordon, I just looked at the picture again, and it's not the base shims...I should have taken a better look. That's the head to cylinder seam...
That's likely combustion blow out....back to your other thread. |
