I bought a 1971 T a few months ago but had to replace the oil tank because it was leaking. The replacement tank was from a 1970 model. The oil filler tube is straight and the dipstick is short when compared to the original tank on my 1971 model. The filler tube that was on the 1971 tank had a couple of bends and a longer dipstick. Is this normal or should both be the same shape and length?

My stick is straight. I'm pretty sure my tank is original. I have a 2nd one that will go in the car when the motor is pulled. The stick is straight on that one as well. That one came off a '71 Targa.

The one with the bends is from a car with A/C. Confused the heck out of me.

RallyJon,
Thanks for the clarification. The car originally had A/C. |
