Mission Raceway DE, who's going?

I'll be heading out to Mission Raceway this Friday for my first DE since moving back to the Lower Mainland! PCA/CWR is sponsoring the event and I was just wondering who I might see from the board. As a novice, I'll need all the words of wisdom and encouragement that I can get!

I'll be driving my 81 SC (seen here relaxing along Cali's central coast, circa 2003), so come on by and say hello.

Since my last track day on the Streets track at Willow Springs I have install new Bilstiens (HDs F&R) and 7&8" fuchs. I am interested to see if I can feel the difference. I might have to seriously look at new seats and belts if this gets serious.

Kudos to Mike Stacey at Targa Performance for the prep work on the car!

Hope to see you there!

Jeff, Jorian,

Looking forward to meeting you both! I definitely would love to pick your brains about short and long term upgrades for the car.

Jorian, your car looks great! That's the first Carmine Red 911 I've seen.

See you Friday.

I just checked the Mission web site and they list the street drags for Fri night then vintage racing Sat and Sun. Is your DE happening Fri morn/aft?

that's what I was trying to imply... first DE for me... but not for the car. And you're right - everybody I meet that knows the car says something about the pace of the previous owner... I have some pretty big shoes to fill!

The DE is in the morning/ afternoon. The PCA is having a special corral on sunday at he vintage races. Porsche is th featured manufacturer this year. The 917 that Steve M drove in the movie Lemans will be there also.

Mentat, don't worry about trying to keep up to Kevin's pace, he was a total natural on the track! Plan on having a good time!!

Cheers, Jeff

Email from Bruce Young indicated 54 drivers and 8 instructors. The instructors will definitely be busy if there are around 18 novices (54/3) like me.

Hopefully there will be lunchtime ridealongs with the instructors driving their cars. That's always an eye-opening experience.

See you guys tomorrow!

The last one I saw said 22 novices! 52 would be better and more managable! I am also not looking forward to doing tech on 60+ cars!!!!
Maybe I have my numbers wrong, I am kinda under the weather with alergies and a bad cold right now. Bring your sunscreen, it is gonna be hot out there, like 30C, which is hot for us northwest guys! Oh yeah, bring lots of water as well, there is not always a lot on hand. Looking forward to seeing how badly I screwed the my cars setup compared to last year when it handled like a dream. First time out with all the new stuff, I am kinda nervous to say the least!!

Hi Guys,

I'll be there!! This will be a first DE for me too. I'm a total novice. And they say it is gonna be over a 30 degree sunny day too. Let's see how the cars can handle a hot day of driving.

Don't worry about yer car Jeff, it will run great! I'll really looking forward to looking at yer trick Ferrari suspension set up.

So what kind of equipment should we bring? Do they have helmets etc?? Should I bring my bike helmet?

:-)

See you all tomorrow!!

Bike helmets are not allowed. There are helmets available for use, but you will probably end up sharing with someone in another group. Remember that our PCA requires long sleeve cotton pants and shirts as a minimum. Bring water, an afternoon snack (lunch is provided thanks to the kindness of Duncan at Urban Garage) tire pressure guage, hat, sunscreen, oil, widshield cleaner and paper towels......

Bring lots of enthusiam as well! Get some sleep tonite and eat a good breakfast and you will have a day that you will have trouble not telling your friends about. Just like autocross, leave everything that is not required out of your car at home!

See you guys tommorrow, looking forward to meeting those of you that I have not met yet, and seeing those that I have.

Cheers. Jeff

I try to bring a hat, sunglasses, sun tan lotion, fold up chair, cooler with ice & water, snacks, extra shirt, basic tools, cab fare in case things get ugly. I'm sure I forgot something...

Very cool ride. I don't care what they say about old-school BBS rims, I think they look hot on 80s SCs and Carreras. Just watch; give it a few years and everyone's going to want those gold-finished 15s for there retro project.

Not to highjack, but who's going to the historics this weekend? I should be their with my dad in this...
