Recently replaced the battery in my 1977 911S, and while looking around in that area I saw two clear plastic tubes in the very front of the trunk compartment, that dipped in somewhere behind the bumper.
These looked like the type of tube that would be used for washer fluid, however my car does not have headlight washers (and I have no history on the car). Are these washer fluid lines? Would they have been run for a car without headlight washer, or is it possible that somewhere in its hidden history the bumper has been replaced? Is there any way to trace history on a car like this? It was obviously neglected for a long time prior to my purchasing it (from a dealer). From what I've read on this board it's too old for Carfax.

You can apply for a Certificate of Authenticity from PCNA to see what options that car had when built. If you have the tubes, the extra pump, the switch and the wiring for the headlight washers, then it probably had them at one time, whether factory installed or not. Porsche didn't put all that stuff in every car and just hook up the ones that ordered the washers.

Dave,
Here's a couple of pictures of the washer pump(s) area from my 77S with factory headlight washers. Hopefully this might help... ![]() ![]() Frank
