Carrera Front Bumper Modifications...

I searched...but

Could not find any pics of front bumpers (SC/Carrera) style that have been modified such as front rubber strip removed and gap filled and light brought out flush.

There is alot of room under there at least where the top portion is - some cool gt style vents with mesh would look cool almost like a gt2. I am looking for some pics like this.

I saw a front bumper like this somewhere and cannot find it now...anyone got pics?

Too many pictures of fiberglass bumpers. I am interested in this also. The only one that seems to be a modification of the existing front bumpers is the black turbo. Any more?

What's the name of the bodyshop in Natick that does these?

devinbholmes, looks amazing! I'm in CT, who did this work, and any idea of cost? This would look amazing on my white cab with RUF PU valence.

89911 has it right (maybe cuz he did his rear bumper and I am doing the same and we want the fronts to match to a degree).

I am talking about taking the OEM front bumper and modding it.

As for the accordians they could be replicated in fiberglass and painted and in a crash they would simply break off saving rear quarters and front fenders (not quite as money saving as the rubber ones but a little better looking.

I am not hot for a fiberglass bumper as I drive on the street and have been rear ended twice now in 3 years...

Also if done correctly - you could approach the weight of a fiberglass setup (that has the proper protection underneath) with the stock setup just modded a bit.

The black turbo is headed in the right direction...

Have those lights been brought out flush or do they jsut look that way without the rubber lip - ?

This is actually the stock bumper, with valance added and all fiberglassed over into one piece. But it is "home-made".

I like the trimless front. With a Ruf valance, it would look great. The only issue I see is when you reverse the studs up front, it may be hard to get to them to tighten them on the shocks. The rears are easy.

Pink eh ;)

I think just the front rubber (rub) trim removal would go a LONG way - looks clean. I would also have my headlamp squirters filled at the same time.

I am in the process of giving my 84 targa (now cab) the C2 look update with fiberglass bumpers...I bought a betterbodies narrow C2 "kit" but was also very wary of having only fiberglass between any bad drivers & my engine or trunk.

I used the existing rear bumper, stripped of everything, and simply slid the fiberglass one over it. I also used the stock heat shield.....fit really well and gave me the support strength I wanted..... I plan to try the same with the front bumper as well in a week or so.
That way you may be able to use any bumper you wanted and still have factory metal protection....

Body Shop in Natick MA

Here's the name of the body shop in Natick MA. The place is: West Foreign Auto Body and the number is 508-655-5677. The owner's name is Barry and he's an awesome guy.

Besides repainting the car, he did the following mods:

Front Bumper - Filled in headlight washer holes, removed rubber strip and filled it in, modified the bumper shocks, welded in brackets on the back of the bumper to allow for relatively easy removal

Rear Bumper - Basically same deal as front

Doors - Removed door handles for that "shaved look"

As for the price, I'd have to go check the invoice. Since I had everything done at the same time, I didn't pay attention to the itemization, just the bottom line.

Here are some more pics.....

Tell Barry I sent you. I mentioned it to him when we spoke earlier today.

thanks
Devin

His place will be 20 minutes from my new home in Northborough. I'll call him to paint my ducktail. I'm moving in late June.

That looks pretty sweet - pricing would help as I am doing this now and I think the paint shop I am using is high - as in really high both in price and in too many paint fumes. These look like pretty basic mods if you can weld a bit.

Have the lights in the front been brought out any?
