Blaupunkt atlanta CD90

My car is equipped with the above CD, an older model from the early '90's, me thinks. It has a case you put a CD in, which then is inserted into the radio. The radio works great, and the CD sounds fine--when it works. Sometimes it won't start and then ejects, sometimes it stops in the middle of a tune, etc.

Does anyone have experience with this radio/CD? Is there a fix? Yes, it is old and came with the car I just bought. I tried cleaning the CD "cassette"--no avail.
