81SC Seat Belts

Hi, I have stock black seat belts in my car. The drivers belt is very frayed and old looking and I am guessing not necessarily the safest any more. Any advice on replacements? The belt functions well. Can I just buy a belt somewhere and install it on the retracting hardware?

Thanks.

I have the same problem. Try the classifieds. You can buy new belts for around $200.00. I have been keeping my eye on cars being parted out.
I bought some compete belts from a VW GTI this summer. They are the right width but I could not get them apart to "rewind" them onto my retractor.

The belts from 911's up to 1989 and pssobly 1992 are similar and should be a bolt in. Try a Porsche dismantler. This is the way I am going over the winter.

I bought a new drivers side from a link on this forum. Do a search and you should find it. If not I'll look tonight when I get home.

They have a core charge up front for your old belt latch peice but when you send it back I think the whole thing was around 175.00
Not to bad for a new set up that 's identical to your original belt.

I just bought a pair on EBAY last night. They are from an 86 944. As they are complete, I am going to see if they will be a bolt in for my stock ones. If not, I'll put them up for sale again. The seats from various other models work so it knid of makes sense that the belts would as well.
