Need to identify a R&P gear set
I need to identify a R&P gear set to find out what it fits and what it is worth. Tooth count is 9:38 and has the following numbers on both gears: 1600905407AO
A local Porsche guy thinks they might be from a G50, but is not that familiar with cars late enough to have on of those. Here is a picture..... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1117860077.jpg Thanks, Greg |
It's a 930 CWP set

Thanks Hayden,
So that would be a 930 4spd used in the turbo 911's from 1975 to about 1985? CWP = crown wheel & pinion ? I wonder why the local Porsche Dealer Parts dept couldn't figure this one out from the part numbers? They said the number didn't start with the right number and that the part number wasn't the correct length. So this is an OEM Porsche part? Not an aftermarket item? Any idea of value? And anyone interested in purchasing it? I'm clearing out a variety of extra stuff that I will be posting to make room for and generate a few dollars to go toward my 914 project car. Thanks, Greg |
Greg,
Not sure about value, the Pelican classified is as good a place as anywhere to start. Otherwise offer it to places like Patrick MS and others who specialize in transmission preparation with 930's. It's the short ratio CWP for the 930, so it has more appeal to the road race crowd. The numbering on the part comes from the gear maker, either Hurth or Gleason depending upon vintage, you might find a date on it - in which case it will be month followed by 2 digits - being year, often these are in the minor diameter of the spline on the pinion shaft. Standard 4.22 (9:38) ratio, probably worth $350-650, depending on condition and buyer.

So is this ratio stock for a 4 speed 930?
