1971 Help needed 911 T
Ok, I posted earlier that I had a 1971 T 2.2
The car has the S front and back, I found original seats and removed the 944 ones in it. I yanked the whale tale I yanked the aftermarket valviadi mirrors and Grant Steering wheel. I am faced with a decision the back valance has the cutout for a dual exhaust the motor is a spare racing motor and has S pistons and E cams, it goes likea bat out of hell. I am putting the stock mirror back on Interior was all redone as well as all seals. No rust to speak of, seats are decent, need some minor work, but they are stock for that vintage. Added after market Pioneer stereo, figured I'd leave that in. I got rid of the 944 seats and put in the correct type of seat for the car. Should I to get the most bang for my buck when I sell this car, put on a dual sport exhaust ? Should remove the door panels and put on RS ones ??? (the exsiting ones are fair to poor. Should I add the duck tail and graphics to make it an RS clone. I figurer it'll cost me about 1200.00 to add these mods Or should I just take pics and sell it as is. I think the whale tail is sold, the other addons I did I need to sell or have on ebay already. The car is in fair to above average shape, little if any rust,. and no rust in the problem areas. Mileage is questionable since I had the odo fixed. but the motor is well beyone the stock 2.2. It has E cams, S Pistons and webers and runs like a swiss watch. What should I ask for the car as it sits ??? should I toss the money in for dual sport exhaust ???? (it already has the cut outs for it. Do I do door panels ??? Would love some help in this area, I want the most bang for my buck. but I dont want to put money out that is a waste as I did with the whale tail experiment etc.\ please respond here or better yet via email to junglejoe@wi.rr.com If your are local to waukesha wisconsin area would not mind a visit either. Thanks ! James Stadler

James,
I cannot belive that no one has responded to you. How rude! Anyway, I'll give you my $0.02. If it were me I'd "just take pics and sell it as is". Partly becaus I am cheap and partly because what you do to the car will likely not be to the same taste as the new buyer. You might spend $1200 on door pockets a dual outlet muffler and the next guy will put RS door panels and a factory muffler. there is no telling what the future buyer may want. What to ask depends on the car. You can use Bruce Anderson's recent valuation reference in "Excellence" as a guide to start. Post some photos here and the group will give you some ideas. Good Luck and I'll watch for those photos. Don

Yeah I'll be posting pics as soon as I get the detail work done on it, got the stock mirror remounted and I am doing some touch up etc, then I have to clean it up and make it shiny. then I'll post some pics.
I can recall someone said something about a cover that covers the drivers side electrical cid etc, I dont have that cover, have not seen any ever advertised either. so I dunno. Thanks for your reply tho. I am leaning on keeping it where it's at and let the buyer do the dual exhaust/door panels if they want. With the motor it has, that is what will sell the car, that and the fact that it's in fairly good shape and i've kept it garaged as did the prior owner. JJ

i agree..probably not worth the trouble to put extra money into the car to try and make even more money back. my bet is the difference wouldn't make it worth the hassle, but i'm the type who doesn't tend to count pennies. i'll give up a few dollars for my time with no additional hassles.
