Compounding car?

I have a few pieces left I need to wet sand and compound, basically the right rear quarter, the bumpers, the mirrors and all the bumper extension pieces. Is it ok to put back together and then compound or should I do it in pieces. Also, for the bumper extensions and mirrors, are those best done by hand instead of a buffing machine?

Thanks,

David

I think it would be easier to do on the car so that they are held firmly.
This will make a mess, but you can easily throw old sheets over much of the car to help block some of the slinging.

I have hit the larger flat portions of small parts w/ the machine then hand rub the recesses and corners. Obviously you need to be careful!
