SSI install on '82SC help

I have a set of SSIs, and a muffler from mb911 that I purchased a while ago. I'm planning on installing them soon.

I still need to obtain the two oil lines that are necessary.

What gaskets will I need? 6 exhaust gaskets, and 2 muffler, right? Does anyone know the correct part #s?

I guess I should order new barrel nuts (6), the lock nuts (6), and muffler straps. Anything else I should order?

Kirk

Cool SSI install....

Do you have the correct muffler support bracket for the muffler you are planning on using? The stock SC muffler bracket mounts on the two large studs sticking out the back cover. The 74 and earlier bracket mounts to bolts above the muffler center line. If you are going to use the earlier style bracket you will need to make a reinforcement plate to go inside the engine compartment. The muffler should not be mounted only to the SSI collectors. The vibration generated driving the car will crack the stainless pipes.

Good luck with your project.

Fred,

Thanks for the tip. I'm not really sure how the muffler will mate up, as it is a custom job. I'll have to take a closer look under the car and see.

barrel nuts - 5, hex nuts - 7. SSIs come with a custom kinky wrench to help reach a couple of nuts way under there. good time to deal with any oil return tube leaks.

I bought the SSIs used (from a board member) and they are in great shape, but I don't have the wrench. Is this the tool that Pelican sells? The socket on a long Allen wrench?
