green wire distributor
Read several posts about this but none definate. The shielding wire is it suppose to be grounded or positive?? I would assume that the shielding is grounded and the single wire is positve?? Help please

The center conductor of the green coaxial cable is + and the shield is -.

The magnetic pickup coil in the distributor is completely isolated and 'floating' from ground or power at the distributor. The coax cable shield is only grounded when it makes connection at the 6-pin connector of the CDI unit ... to terminal '31d.' When you have the cable unplugged at the CDI unit to check for the coil's 600 Ohm resistance/continuity or to check for the low-level AC waveform or Voltage during cranking ... there is no continuity to ground from either center conductor or shield! The AC waveform from the pickup coil has both positive and negative transitions, though the CDI unit only 'uses' the positive component.

It is hooked up to the msd ignition so I want to make sure its hooked up properly
