Deck lid grill / What paint?

The grill is looking faded and ugly. Realizing it gets pretty hot back there, what kind of black paint would be best to bring it back to life.

TIA, Brian W

any good black satin paint. The auto parts store sells a metal trim satin paint that works very well.

Hey Brian,

They also make a plastic paint now. Don't know what would stand up to heat better, but supposedly, this plastic paint "bonds" chemically......so they say. I think it's Rustoleum, but I can't remember, I saw it at Home Depot one day.

I believe the plastic paint is called "fusion" by Krylon.

I'd clean with prepsol (or similar), then scuff with a scotch pad and spray with Wurth satin black. Auto Body supply shops also sell satin black trim paint.

If you're going down to the virgin material than you need to prime prime properly beforehand.

Thanx guys, I'll get the plastic paint. I'm not taking it all the way down, just roughing it up.
