Porsche Crest Unsightly Hose, best replacement? Anyone...

Doing some work this weekend and would like to start giving the engine a nicer look and cleaner. This hose (or piping) just sticks out and looks terrible any suggestions for replacing, if so please describe and dimensions or where to pick up? Pictures.

Looks like a dryer vent hose from Lowe's or Home Depot. I'd try AZ, Carquest, etc. and see what they might have for actual automotive applications.

Looks like you need backdate fittings and some new hose. Either aircraft hose or the foil.

If you do a search for spruce aircraft you will find some really good looking hoses that will work.

Take a look here . I think you want CAT tubing, which is black.

You've got some cheap dry vent hose there.

Appreciate the info, exactly what do you mean wilke3619 by "backdate fittings" not familiar with the term. Spruce aircraft search on general web or pelican? Thanks again,

Engine is Finally Done

it appears you have the large outlet fitting that normally attaches to the blower. With the backdate you have a smaller hose on each side. I could be wrong, its happened before. What year model is your car?

yeah, search for "backdate heat" or something along those lines. Usually on the left side the turbo vent is adapted to the fan shroud get around the distributor and then a short flex hose is all that is needed. Looks like the PO removed the stock heating system with blower and hoses but left the stock vent there and adapted the shiney bright longish flex hose.

Thats the original outlet that normally is connected to the heater blower. Looks like the PO has done a DIY job of backdating the heating.

What does the right hand side of the engine look like. It should look like the engine posted by Wilkie3169 if its been backdated properly.

There is a guy on Pelican that makes the back dated components out of fibreglass. Do a search on 'heating backdate' and you will find it.

For reference, here is my car with the orginal set up.

Ventilation Ducting

Hope this helps

scottb, the product sounds nice, appreciate the link. Where is the company located out of curiosity? Does anyone have any pictures of what they've put in place if found in engine compartment.
