Thanks Supe, but in the words of Harry Gray: "Don't peak too soon." Or in other terms, its a marathon, not a sprint.
All I can say is, "mistakes were made". But I've got two track days coming up at the end of the month, so I must have done something right. It gets better...or so I've been told. At some point we'll both have the funds to do some serious mods. But for now, it is lay low and tread water. And when it comes to adventures, I got nothing on this guy: http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/index.php/topic,24774.0.html http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/index.php/topic,23454.0.html http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/index.php/topic,23362.0.html http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/index.php/topic,24868.0.html http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/index.php/topic,22156.0.html http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/index.php/topic,20780.0.html |
Well, thanks for the support, fellas. It was hard for about a day, then it was a "...eh, what the hell," kind of thing. My mind started going into all the ancillary crap that'd be involved with installing a motor 60 more horsepower than what I now have, and the fact I'd probably need bigger brakes (which I've already upgraded once), a slightly better suspension set up (which I've already upgraded twice), and who knows what would happen to my transmission, specifically the ring and pinion - which I don't want to upgrade at all.
As for the engine, will I ever upgrade that? I don't know. My 3.0 seems to have a clairvoyance about it, as it has felt particularly strong since I entertained the idea of ditching it for the 3.2. Even in 5th at 2500 RPM, it's been popping up to 4K with peculiar alacrity. Regardless, I do know this: it's a damn good motor and strong for what it is...so... ...maybe wifey-poo did me a favor. Next she'll be moaning about some vaginal discomfort, the itching or the burning. Then out of the blue she'll say something like "Oh but I don't have to tell you, you know what it feels like, Don't you honey". "Here hold my purse." Maybe I should clear out the spare bedroom just in case you need it? |

...had a friend with a 72 with a euro 3.2 and webers w/ a 7:31 r/p. It was damn quick. It had great acceleration and was often quicker around the auto-x course than a real 73RS with a real 2.8 RSR engine in it.

For those who may not know.
I kid Dave 'cause he's a great guy and a good friend. My harrassing him about his wife and the decisions she makes for him is purely good natured fun and jealousy. I've never even met his wife (trust me you don't?) but I'm sure she is a wonderfull person. |
Dave its just as well. A couple months later you would have wanted a 3.6 so why not just make it a long term project and disperse your spending over a greater length of time. Doesnt look as bad that way! Rear tbars, 993 3.6, chip, cams, muffler, wiring harness, flywheel, SC 915. Thats a good start and pretty close to what we are doing with my dads car hehe. Anyways I am certain your car still gives you a fix.
