Red 1989 Porsche 911 (not mine)

Collector's Car Stolen From Flintridge Driveway

by Jacqueline Chen

In the early hours of last Friday morning, Chris Burke returned to his Flintridge home to find his red 1989 Porsche 911 missing from the driveway where he had left it six hours previously. He alerted the local law enforcement authorities and less than five minutes later, three patrol cars from the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station arrived at his home.

Burke last saw the car when he left home at 6:30 on Thursday evening. He said his neighbor, who returned home at 9:30 p.m., believes he saw the automobile still parked in Burke's driveway at that time. The following morning, there were reported sightings of a red Porsche in Montrose.

The car, a collector's item because only a few hundred were built, is a slant nose cabriolet convertible with flip-up headlights and a roll cage. Burke said the car had been extensively enhanced and worked on by nearly all the Southern California Porsche dealers. As a result, it is unique, easily identifiable by Porsche enthusiasts and would be difficult to sell on the open market.

Just getting the word out in the event that someone here comes across something fishy...

Don't know the guy, just saw the article.

I did a search on the board and didn't see it referred to, so sorry if it's a duplicate post.

-Dustin

That really sucks! It looks like there have been so many Porsches stolen lately. Maybe the one you mentioned is the same car as in this thread:

Why would someone leave such a "valuable car" sitting in a drive way? Why would the guy offer a $25K reward in the cars for sale section of this website.

Sounds pretty weird to me.

Well. if he lives in La Canada / Flintridge, his net worth is in a region where $25K could be chump change..;-)

I don't think it was the owner who put the post there?

And I guess he parked it in his driveway because that is where it goes sometimes.

Yep - it looks the same - sorry for the duplicate post - just tyring to help a brother out.

I sure hope he finds his car intact, but the sad reality is it's probably chopped or in a container heading overseas...
