Question early 911 windshield

Where do I find a new windshield for 1972 911?

Are you sure? I thought the glass was thinner or something in the early cars, and getting later glass meant using the later seal (and losing the chrome trim)

The change occured in 1989 for the 964. Some very late 911's got the 964 windshield, which will work with the 964 seal (trimless seal).

I found a windshield through Safelite (made by Pilkington) that does not have the tint band across the top. Be sure to specify no tint band if you want to be early correct - you'll also have to remove the mirror clip with a little heat (propane torch from the glass side and some pliers). Order the adhesive pad from our host to mount your early mirror. Was about $180.00. It has a not so cool Pilkington logo etched in the lower left corner... but a PCA sticker hides it nicely.
